Our Programs
Comprehensive initiatives designed to address the needs of rural communities in Rwanda
Strategic Focus Areas
Our work is organized around four key strategic areas that address the interconnected challenges of environmental conservation, climate change, poverty, and sustainable development.

Ecosystem Restoration & Conservation
We work to restore and protect critical ecosystems in Nyamasheke District, with a focus on riparian areas, wetlands, and forests that provide essential services to local communities.
Key Initiatives
- Reforestation of Riparian Areas: Protecting waterways through native tree planting to prevent erosion, improve water quality, and enhance biodiversity.
- Wetland Rehabilitation: Restoring degraded wetlands to support wildlife, mitigate floods, and sustain freshwater resources.
- Sustainable Land Management: Promoting agroforestry and soil conservation to combat desertification and improve agricultural productivity.
Climate Resilience & Adaptation
We help rural communities adapt to the changing climate by implementing sustainable practices that reduce vulnerability and build long-term resilience.
Key Initiatives
- Climate-Smart Agriculture: Training farmers in drought-resistant crops, efficient irrigation, and organic farming techniques.
- Disaster Risk Reduction: Establishing early-warning systems for floods and droughts to protect vulnerable communities.
- Clean Energy Solutions: Introducing solar dryers and biogas technologies to reduce deforestation and improve energy access.

Economic Empowerment
We create sustainable livelihood opportunities that allow rural communities to thrive economically while protecting their natural resources.
Key Initiatives
- Eco-Tourism Development: Creating jobs through guided nature trails and conservation tourism activities.
- Women & Youth-Led Enterprises: Supporting beekeeping, handicrafts, and tree nurseries managed by women and young people.
- Village Savings Groups: Strengthening financial resilience against climate shocks through community-based savings and loan associations.
Advocacy & Policy Influence
We work to influence policies and practices that support sustainable development, environmental conservation, and climate resilience at local and national levels.
Key Initiatives
- Community-Based Natural Resource Governance: Empowering locals to manage forests and water sources through participatory approaches.
- National Climate Policy Engagement: Partnering with RCCDN and ARCOS to align with Rwanda's Green Growth Strategy.
- Environmental Education: Raising awareness about conservation and sustainable practices through community workshops and school programs.
